Double-headed shay locomotives were on display at the 2008 Cass Railfan Weekend, sponsored by Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Association, on May 17-18, 2008. Shays 2, 4, and 5 provided steam and logging enthusiasts a weekend of incredible mountain railroading under both sunny and rainy skies.

Cass Railfan Weekend 2008 featured the re-creation of historic operations of vintage diesels and geared steam locomotives together at the "lost" town of Spruce, West Virginia. The combination of these Titans in operation on the same tracks has not occurred at this location in over 50 years. Experience this railroad history as part of the Cass Railfan Weekend tradition.

Throughout the weekend, single and double headed log trains as well as the Western Maryland diesels performed runbys at a variety of locations. This all-digital, widescreen production includes footage from all three days of the 2008 Cass Railfan Weekend, including the Friday excursion featuring Western Maryland Diesels.
Additionally, this DVD features coverage of the return of steam to Elkins. On July 12-13, 2008, Western Maryland Shay #6 provided excursions out of the historic Elkins Depot.
This DVD is approximately 88 minutes in length and is in NTSC format with no region coding. It is encoded in 16:9 format and has been enhanced for widescreen televisions. It will play on standard 4:3 televisions with small black bars at the top and bottom. It is recorded on a high quality DVD-R and will play on most DVD players. Full color, all digital production shot and mastered in high-definition, stereo sound, no narration, and PLENTY of whistle action!
